In His Own Words: Matt Aaron, CFP^®

Still wondering why you should pursue CFP^® certification? For Matt Aaron, CFP^® the answer was clear. “I chose to pursue CFP^® certification because I believe it is the highest competency and ethical standard in the profession and a mark of a true financial planner,” Matt says. “It represents my dedication to my craft in the same way my physician and attorney clients have their M.D. and J.D., respectively.” Matt chose to invest in himself and his business by earning CFP^® certification, and his hard work is already bringing rewards!

Matt started his financial services career during his junior year in college, founding Aaron Financial in partnership with Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company. He had to build his clientele from scratch, talking to anyone who would answer the phone to try to establish his business. At the same time, Matt chose to pursue CFP^® certification, knowing that it would open important career doors in his future, and had to fit study time into his busy schedule. His commitments meant that he had to sometimes say no to time with family and friends (he even missed a Father’s Day celebration!), but with the support of his loved ones, his sacrifices paid off when he passed the CFP^® exam.

Now, as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^™ professional, Matt provides comprehensive financial planning to emerging affluent professionals such as physicians, attorneys, and young executives. He is excited about his career as a CFP^® professional, saying, “I love the opportunity to connect with people to learn about their goals personally, professionally, and financially. There is a cause and effect relationship to every decision our clients make, so providing them with the confidence that they are doing things right – and the peace of mind that they are going to be okay – is an amazing feeling.”
